SHRIMP SHELL POWDER WITHOUT HEAD

SHRIMP SHELL POWDER is by-products of the processing industry. Shrimp was removed before freezing or after the processing is handled by drying. Today, on the market, there have some kind of shrimp powder that depend on the type of raw material used. It may contain shrimp or lobster parts such as head or shell. Shrimp powder can also be made from fresh shrimp. In shrimp powder, part of the crude protein is of chitin forms.

For livestock: especially pigs, should not completely replace shrimp shells powder by fish meal, because high levels of chitin affects the digestion of pig. Only replace no more than 50% of fishmeal will stimulate growth.

For chicken: shrimp sell powder can replace fish meal, soybean meal in broiler diets. Replacement rate ranged from 25 to 65% for fish meal, and from 50% to 100% for soy flour. Shrimp powder is also used as pigment supplements in chickens. For laying hens, the replacement rate from 5% to 25% will not affect livestock performance and egg quality.

For seafood: shrimp shell powder is very good for fish feed due to high crude protein and digestibility high (84.29%). It stimulates the growth of the fish.
